Adding Shared Printer driver in Group Policy

 

Add the Print Management for Windows Server 2012 R2

 

 

 

 

On Window Server 2012 R2

Check the Print and Document Services role

 

Once the necessary roles and features are installed, in Group Policy Management Console navigate to Group Policy objects container and create new Group Policy Object by right clicking the inside the Contents tab.

Enter name of your GPO and click OK.

 

Right click on the newly created GPO and select Edit.

 

Add Shared printer

Navigate to User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > right click on the Deployed Printers and select Deploy Printer.

 

 

Click on the Browse… button and browse the shared Black Ice printer driver:

 

Click on the Add and then the OK button.

 

In the Group Policy Management window, right click on the Domain, click on the Link an Existing GPO and select the newly created GPO, and make sure that the necessary groups, users and computers are added under the GPO Scope tab.

 

When finished, update the Group Policy by opening a command line, and type the following command: gpupdate

 

 

Next time when an appropriate user logs in, the Shared printers will be automatically added in Devices and Printers.
